Elizabeth and Josh reached out to me to when they started planning their wedding in Morelia Mexico! Ultimately they chose to have their wedding in Morelia because of how much they both love it. Josh grew up visiting Morelia, so when he and Elizabeth met, they started traveling and vacationing there together. Undoubtably, Elizabeth ended up falling in love with the city too so they decided there was no better place to celebrate their big day! Since they love the culture, the atmosphere, the architecture, and the food so much they wanted all of their friends and family to be able to come and experience the city that they love too!
Morelia Wedding Rehearsal
To begin the wedding celebrations they had a welcome dinner/rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding that I had the opportunity to photograph! The dinner was the perfect chance for everyone to hangout before the wedding day. During the welcome party they had local cultural entertainment which was super fun for them and their guests.
Getting Ready
The next day on the morning of the wedding day, Elizabeth and Josh got ready with their wedding parties in separate beautiful boutique hotels! From the begin of the day to the end their entire wedding day had so many beautiful details! For example, their invitation suites and florals were absolutely breathtaking. In addition, Elizabeth even customized her own wedding dress with a local Morelia designer, who actually helped her get into the dress on the morning of the wedding.
The Wedding Ceremony
After their first look, Elizabeth and Josh shared private vows in the middle of an iconic street in the city before the wedding ceremony! Following their vows we ventured around the city taking photos even stopping for some cocktails at a cute cocktail spot in the city. After we took some couple photos, we headed to the cathedral to take some wedding party photos. Later that evening, they had a beautiful traditional Catholic wedding ceremony. After the ceremony they had a traditional, Callejoneada parade in the street which was such a fun addition!
The Wedding Reception
From the first moment you stepped into the reception venue it looked like a fairytale! As you entered the venue there was a huge floral arched tunnel with tons of candles that opened up to the reception area. They started off the reception with a cocktail hour complete with a mariachi band. Following cocktail hour they had a plated dinner during which a local violinist and saxophonist play the most beautiful music. After dinner they had an epic dance party with a DJ. At midnight they brought the violinist and the saxophonist back for a dubstep duet. The violinist and saxophonist had light-up suits and instruments which they played along to the music the DJ was playing which was so fun and unique!
After midnight, the DJ played the song “Shots” and a surprise shot cart come out. The couple celebrated and passed out shots to everyone. Everyone had such a fun time and enjoyed the whole evening with the newlyweds!
