I had the amazing opportunity to go to Iceland for a Tyler Rye Expedition in November and capture this beautiful elopement editorial!
The ice cave is on a glacier in Iceland. They are mostly accessible in the winter, and each year the glaciers look different. The ice cave is this beautiful blue color – I’ve never seen anything like it before!
We went with a guide through the cave, who pointed out all of the good spots for photos in addition to keeping us safe. It was so chilly in the ice cave but luckily the couple had multiple layers on to keep them warm. *Pro Tip: Hand-warmers help SOOO much!
Exploring the ice cave was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had! Not only were the photos surreal, but it was also so incredible to experience walking on a beautiful glacier. Ice caves are such a unique place for elopements! They provide a fun way to capture unforgettable pictures as well as a one-of-a-kind experience.
There was also a stunning lagoon close by called Iceberg Lagoon. Right next to the lagoon is Diamond Beach. The iceberg pieces wash onto the black rock shore and look like diamonds. What’s so neat about this beach is that it looks different every day as different parts of ice wash on and off the shore!
We got to photograph all 3 unique views during this session. It was truly the experience of a lifetime!
