Sierra and Zach had a beautiful Costa Rica destination wedding with a unique twist! Keep reading to find out how this couple incorporated their favorite activity (surfing) into their Costa Rica destination wedding experience! Since Zach’s family has a house in Tamarindo, Costa Rica, it was the perfect location for the couple to have their dream destination wedding.
Ceremony
To begin the wedding celebration, Zach, Sierra, and their families arrived a few days early to hang out, eat, go surfing, and spend some quality time together.
Then, on the morning of the wedding, everyone met up right after sunrise on the beach. After meeting up, they had a beautiful, intimate ceremony with their friends and family. During the ceremony the officiant gave Sierra and Zach “The Ocean’s Blessing”, which perfectly reflected the couple’s love of water.

“Zach and Sierra, may your love always be as constant as the never-ending waves, flowing endlessly from the depths of the sea. Just as the waters touch and nourish the many shores of the Earth, may your love be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Just as there will never be a morning without the ocean’s flow, there will never be a day without your love for each other.”
Post Ceremony
After the ceremony, we took family portraits and then everyone had some down time to relax. Sierra and Zach went for a massage while the family went back to the house to prepare for the reception later that evening.
Later that evening, we all enjoyed traditional Costa Rican food at the reception – it was absolutely delicious! Following dinner, Sierra and Zach had their first dance on the back patio of the beautifully decorated house. Afterwards, the wedding party shared speeches, ate food, and enjoyed each other’s company.
Adventure Session
The next day I met back up with Sierra and Zach to do an adventure session at another beach in a different area of Costa Rica. For the adventure session they arrived in their wedding attire for portraits, and then they went straight into the water after to surf!
Following photos they hung out on the beach and celebrated their wedding and their new marriage.
Undeniably, Sierra and Zach truly had the best of both worlds. Their wedding day was sweet and stress free and they got to incorporate their favorite activity together in their portraits!
